Description

Eighteenth century brass sundial or poke dial, dated 1719. The ring has a suspension handle of bended brass.
The inner side has the hours on a line, the half-hours are marked as dots.
The hole must be turned to the summer or winter months and the hour will be read on the opposite inner side. This makes the reading more accurate than the existing rings with one scale and the oblique inner hour lines. The dating of a ring dial is rare but not in this case.
