Description

This second edition appeared in 1706. First edition 1698 Bouguer was one of the finest hydrographers of his day. A former maritime pilot, he lost a leg at Bantry in the 1689 French invasion of Ireland, causing him to leave active service, and was appointed Regius professor of hydrography and navigation at the Royal School of Hydrography at Croisic in lower Brittany for twenty years until his death in 1714.. One of the maps is of the North Atlantic, showing Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
